Introductory Session
Digital Learning - An online learning programme - 26th April 2023
Now in a relatively new team within the Youth, Adults and Communities Team, more commonly known as CLD. My new line management has requested completion of the PDA, accredited learning for supporting adult learning and literacies and the CTAP SQA Assessor programme.
Over the last 6 years, I have crossed from the old "Work with Young People Team" to the " Community Development Team" and now to the "Adult Learning and Communities" team. Although not self-identified training, I am grasping the investment in my CPD in CLD in an area of practice I have not practiced in, in some time.
Reflections on the first session:
Margaret Bent introduced herself as the Lecturer for our first unit. Our first class was an information session on the course, where we were informed that the course consists of 3 units
1. H3P8 33: Raising Awareness of Adult Literacies
2. H3P7 33: Preparing to Work with Adult Literacies Learners
3. H3P6 33: Delivering and Developing Adult Literacies Learning
Our first unit is about Raising Awareness of Adult Literacies. This Unit is designed to give us, the learners an understanding of the need for Adult Literacies provision in Scotland and to enable us to promote adult literacies learning. The unit covers the Knowledge and Skills required to promote adult literacies by demonstrating positive approaches to adult literacies learning and positive attitudes to adult literacies learners, developing inclusive practice, referring individuals for learning opportunities and the nature of adult literacies learning.
B
The course started on the 26th of April at 10.00am
and unfortunately there were technology issues in people getting into the meeting and also in receiving invitation to shared TEAMS group.
Thoughts on initial session
Although informative, there was no introduction or fun ice breaker to help us as a group of practitioners to connect - there was the time as the session was a short introductory session.
I requested link or support to gain access to TEAMS site as I could not find any information about it via the chat function on TEAMS
Key Concerns:
Time commitment
Identifying learners
